Gopher Treatment Options

Treatment description and options

Every property is unique and different, which is why we believe in tailoring treatment options, such as carbon monoxide treatment and gopher removal, to your specific property to maximize effectiveness. A free consultation and walkthrough will help determine which treatment option, including humane trapping, is best for you.

Trapping

When done correctly, humane trapping offers a great way to achieve peace of mind as the gopher is dispatched quickly and humanely through effective gopher removal methods. By exposing the tunnel entrance, a trap is then placed in the active tunnel, deep enough to prevent unwanted activation of the traps. Additionally, for more severe infestations, carbon monoxide treatment can be employed. The exposed area is then covered and staked with plywood and marked for safety to further prevent unwanted entry and keep children, pets, and livestock safe.

Tunnel collapse

We’re called Gophergeddon for a reason! The mechanical tunnel collapse is not recommended as the only option for gopher removal; however, depending on soil composition, it’s an option we offer to collapse tunnel systems that could pose potential hazards to livestock. For instance, the video seen here showcases multiple tunnels that were collapsed and repaired at an equestrian facility. They were experiencing issues with horses stepping into these tunnel systems and wanted them all removed, leading to our humane trapping and removal methods. This is what we refer to as the caddy shack special!

Targeted carbon monoxide

One of the most effective and non-invasive methods for gopher removal is through carbon monoxide treatment. By inserting probes into an active burrow, carbon monoxide is then pumped throughout the burrow system for 2-3 minutes, effectively putting the animal to sleep... permanently. This humane trapping method does not harm your landscape or crops and will dissipate naturally.

Gopher tunnels are more complex than you might think, and effective gopher removal often requires a combination of methods, including humane trapping and carbon monoxide treatment. This multi-faceted approach is essential to completely eliminate the infestation. Once the site is managed, maintaining it becomes much easier!
